About Microdermabrasion

What is microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is an esthetic procedure in which the skin is exfoliated mechanically. Focused columns of fine, sterile, inert aluminum oxide crystals collide with the outer layer of the skin removing cells of the skin's outermost layer. This method of abrasion was originally adapted for its medical use by physicians in Europe to treat skin irregularities. "Dermabrasion" is very traumatic to the skin, requires anesthesia and has a lengthy healing time. Microdermabrasion is the latest cell renewal and collagen re-growth technique available.
